Jan. 26, 2015 – Two bills in support of the Pa. State Land Tax Fairness Coalition are expected to be introduced soon in the House of Representatives and referred to its Environmental Resources and Energy Committee.
Rep. Martin Causer (R-McKean County) is chief sponsor of the two measures (see Jan. 6 item below), which would increase payments in lieu of taxes for state forest, game and park lands and would require that 20 percent of the revenue derived from gas/oil leasing and timber harvests on state forest land be distributed to school districts, municipalities and counties.
Rep. John Maher is the new chairman of the Environmental Resources and Energy Committee. Other majority member are Republicans Stephen Bloom, Martin Causer, Becky Corbin, Garth Everett, Matt Gabler, Tim Krieger, Jim Marshall, Carl Walker Metzgar, Mark Mustio, David Parker, Jeffrey Pyle, Kathy Rapp, Tommy Sankey and Will Tallman. Democratic members are Greg Vitali (Minority Chair), Bryan Barbin, Tim Briggs, Mike Carroll, Stephen McCarter, Brandon Neuman, Steven Santarsiero, Michael Schlossberg, Kevin Schreiber and Pam Snyder.
