Living in limbo

JAN. 14, 2016 Pennsylvania's budget stalemate has had a ripple effect across the state. It might appear that our campaign for higher payments-in-lieu-of-taxes for state forest, park and game lands is dormant. Such is not the case.

There are legislative leaders who are inclined to support a higher PILT once the Tax Code negotiations (for the overdue fiscal 2015-16 budget) resume in earnest. However, our Harrisburg sources agree that these critical decisions are anything but imminent.

The Pa. State Land Tax Fairness Coalition is conducting another series of contacts with individual Senate and House members to encourage their support of PILT increases for counties, municipalities and school districts.
