JULY 5, 2016 - Pennsylvania's legislature moved forward last week with a 66.6% increase in the payment-in-lieu-of-taxes for state forest and park land. School districts, counties and municipalities currently receiving $1.20 per acre annually would receive $2.00 per acre annually under the new formula (Pa. Game Commission and Fish & Boat Commission acreage would continue to yield the $1.20 per acre). This would take effect on July 1, 2017.

While all signs point to this increase being finalized, the Fiscal Code amendments which contain this provision are still at issue between the legislature and Governor Wolf. There will be more clarification in the coming days, and the signs are very positive, but the increase is not yet signed, sealed and delivered.

Further updates will follow. Strategic expressions of support to move this to the finish line would be appreciated. Many thanks to all who have been involved in this mission for the past two years.
